Do you still recognize
yourself
in the mirror
or has time made
the child
disappear
does it play peekaboo
between your
features
or does it fear
being
peppered with
your disappointments
can you
meet your eye
unwavering
and dare
to love
what you see

Oh, this is so familiar! I really love the lines:
‘does it play peekaboo
between your
features
or does it fear
being
peppered with
your disappointments’.

Personally, I try not to look in the mirror, because some old woman keeps getting in front of me! (I can, however, look myself in the eye and say “You did okay, old girl!”)

I can’t help but think that if more of us could remember how we were as children, there would be so much more wonder and beauty in our poor world. And healing. We would kiss each others wounds instead of putting salt in them.

Oh, yes! Totally agreed! What a lovely thought. A little bit of innocence would likely be a better thing, if we could trade it for being jaded, even for just a few moments a day. A few minutes of wonder would do us good too. 🙂

Loved this! As we all travel through time, it’s wonderful when one can look in the mirror and feel happy about where we are in the moment. ❤
